Dietary Guidelines for Active Adults
Basic Dietary Guidelines:
- Eat a variety of fruits & Vegetables. Choose 5 or more servings per day.
- Eat a variety of grain products, including whole grains. Chose 6 or more servings per day.
- Eat fish at least twice a week, particularly fatty fish.
- Include fat-free & low-fat milk products, legumes (beans), skinless poultry & lean meats.
- Choose fats & oils with 2gms or less saturated fat per tablespoon, i.e., liquid & tub margarine's & canola, olive, corn, safflower & soybean oils.
- Limit your food high in calorie or low in nutrition like foods contain added sugar like soft drinks, sweets, candies, chocolates, cakes, cookies etc.
- Limit foods high in saturated fat, trans fat/cholesterol, such as full cream milk & their products, fatty meats, tropical oils, egg yolk etc.
- Eat less than 6gm of salt/day.
- If you drink than limit your alcohol intake, for woman 30ml/day & for men 60ml/day.
- Get enough physical activity to keep fit, & balance the calories yu burn with the calories you eat Walk or d other activities for at least 30minutes everyday.

Dietary Guidelines for Arthiritis
Dietary Guidelines:
- Arthritis now days is very common disease found among Indians especially woman.
- Exclude Strong tea, coffee, aerated drinks completely from the diet.
- Include skim milk & its products & exclude full cream milk & its products like ghee, butter, khoya, cheese etc.
- Exclude Rajmah,dry beans, lentils completely .
- Exclude some vegetables like spinach, peas, mushrooms, tomatoes, cauliflower, lemon etc.
- Avoid too much fried foods, use refined oil for cooking like olive oil, sunflower oil, rice bran oil etc.
- Take complex carbs such as fruits, vegetables, whole wheat bread biscuits, dalia, flour, bran etc & minimize intake of simple carbs like maida, suji, chirwa, rice etc.
- If the person is overweight then completely exclude sugar & its products from diet like honey, jaggery, sugar, candies, supari, saunf etc.
- Avoid fruits like Mango, Banana, Litchi, Chiku, Grapes & Vegetables like Potato, sweet-potato, yam, colocasia, carrot, beetroot, turnip, cholia etc.(for overweight person).
- Include calcium rich products like soybeans, milk, low fat cheese, paneer, pulses, fish etc.
- Take Soy Protein Isolate in diet.
- Decrease meal size & take frequent meals e.g. 4-5 meals.
- Drink 10-12 glasses of water/day.
